Johannes Zuber
Johannes Zuber is a Senior Group Leader at the Research Institute for Molecular Pathology (IMP) and Professor at the Medical University in Vienna. He studied medicine and received a doctorate in molecular cancer research at the Charité Medical School in Berlin, Germany, where he also completed four years of clinical training in hematology and oncology. During his postdoctoral research at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (New York, USA) and in his own lab, he developed innovative tools for loss-of-function genetics (RNAi, CRISPR, degrons) and time-resolved transcriptomics, which he applies to identify and characterize dependencies and candidate targets in cancer and tumor-associated immune cells. He has received several prestigious grants (e.g. ERC-StG, EMBO-YIP, ERC-POC), was awarded with the German Cancer Prize 2016 and elected as an EMBO member in 2022.
